Boise is such a great town for running, hiking, biking and brewery hopping!

City Path: Boise River Greenbelt

Location: Bernadine Quinn Park (or start anywhere along the Boise River Greenbelt)

The Work: 7 miles flat out and back (I went south on the path)

Bathrooms √: Public Restrooms

The Boise River Greenbelt is a gem! It is a 25 mile paved pathway, running north and south of the Boise River and lined with trees for shade during those hot summer months. I believe I ran this on the weekend, so it was just full of life and fun to see such an active city. I ran south on the trail from the start point listed above and went out 3.5 miles and came back, making it a total of 7 miles. It was a hot day, but the trees were perfect! And if you wanted, you could take a dip in the river to cool off!

Interesting Fact: The Boise River used to be a junk yard, and most people tried to stay away from it. When the Clean Water Act was passed in 1972, Boiseans decided they didn't want to take this river for granted, and started cleaning it up and now it is a beautiful amenity and recreation corridor through Boise.

City Trail Run/Hike: Camel's Back and Hull's Gulch Loop

Location: Camel Back's Park, Boise, ID

The Work: 3.9 mile loop with 465ft gain, All Trails Link

Parking: Street Parking or Camel Back's Park Parking Lot

Bathrooms √: Public Restrooms by the playground

If you don't want to venture far from the city, but want to get some trail running or hiking in, this is the place to do it! I happened to stumble upon this trail, because it is a street sleep spot on iOverlander for camper vans right next to the park. Although this trail doesn't look like much of a gain in elevation, it is surprisingly quite tough, because you do all the climbing in the beginning... which makes for a glorious downhill second half of the run. This path is for mountain bikers as well, so make sure you pay attention and share the path.

*If you want to be an over achiever and get in an extra burn, do a couple of these stair repeats you see in the photo below... you can't miss them!
